François Morel, founder of Quelle Est Belle Company, has been developing bird calls for more than 40 years. Each whistle is crafted from sustainable local wood sourced near his atelier, where he creates his unique and beautiful calls that help us learn to communicate with birds.
We have had the honour of collaborating with François to develop lacquered whistles using an Urushi lacquering process influenced by techniques found in Japan and China. The resin is moisture-resistant, mould-resistant, and food-safe. Our choice of Urushi came from our research and development into finding a non-toxic paint free from harsh chemicals. Each whistle is hand painted in BOWER’s small atelier and takes around one month to cure and set.

Golden Plover
In Icelandic folklore, the European golden plover (Lóa) is a symbol of spring’s arrival, heralding the end of winter. Its appearance is considered a natural alarm clock signaling the return of sunshine and warmer weather. A significant portion of the world’s population of Golden Plovers nests in Iceland.
The Golden Plovers Call has a signature “Cli-u” whistle like call.
